The Bernstein Cognitive Method

is a gentle, kind, and an extremely effective method to treat

non-speaking autistic children

Many autism treatment approaches teach speech to autistic children as a "learned behavior". This is not what Robert does. He believes that when you join children in what they are interested in, we can help introduce speech when the child has wants or needs that they want to express. This can help initiate speech relatively quickly.

Robert's method teaches language and skills by extending the

child’s existing responses.

Starting at the child’s level, parents help the child develop new associations

between existing interests and needs, and new thoughts and behaviors.

This development doesn’t happen on demand.

It takes whatever time is necessary for the child.

What makes this approach  so different?

Testimonials

Hear from real parents and kids who have worked with Robert and learned to use The Bernstein Cognitive Approach for Autism.

“Rob Bernstein’s approach promotes the kind of change that enhances children because it’s organic and helps them develop from inside rather than from external pressure. What I think is also critical to understand is there is a context for this work: Rob creates a safe space for a child to grow. It’s more than acceptance; he joins the child’s experience and is wholly nonjudgmental. It’s critical to ask ourselves if we’re sending double messages about our attitudes, and if the child has a safe place to take risks and change.”
